Part of this solution should be a realistic and reasonable program to assist illegal immigrants in returning to their homelands before applying for legal reentry to the United States. What the United States needs is a comprehensive strategy that reverses decades of ignoring, indeed encouraging, the disregard of requirements for legally entering and lawfully residing in this country. A better strategy would be to get the cooperation of federal, state, and local governments and non-governmental organizations to all work together. Laws need to be enforced within the United States, including identity theft,, prosecuting benefits fraud, tax evasion, and immigration violations. Also, America should work with other nations to enforce laws, to educate their citizens, and to develop more desirable legal alternatives for undocumented workers. The government must help other nations to adopt sound governance and economic policies that will promote growth in their economies and negate the need for citizens to take low-paying jobs in the United States. President Bush and a bipartisan group of ten senators announced an agreement on May 17, 2007, on a comprehensive, compromise plan to tighten border security and address the future of Americas twelve million illegal immigrants. The agreement reached today is one that will help enforce our borders, Bush said. But equally importantly, it will treat people with respect. This is a bill where people who live in our country will be treated without amnesty, but without animosity. The agreement would grant temporary legal status to almost all illegal immigrants, giving then the right to apply for residence visas and citizenship through a lengthy process. Matrix Review Essay Directed and directed by Andy and Larry Wachowski Keanu Reeves as a martial-arts master and savior of the earth? Laurence Fishburne as his mentor? The world as we know it does not even exist? Surely, you cant be serious. Welcome to the fascinating and confusing world of The Matrix. In this sci-fi thriller, Reeves stars as Neo, a computer programmer by day and cyber-hacker by night. Out of nowhere, he is contacted by a group of super hackers who tell him that his life is in danger and his only hope is to trust them. The groups leader, a quiet but confident man known as Morpheus (Fishburne) tells Neo that he is the one chosen to save the world and that the Matrix is the wool that has pulled over your eyes that you are a slave. Neo is the worlds only hope. In a nutshell, Morpheus explains that computers developed on their own and won a brutal war against man. So the computers made a program to put all of the slaves back in the past, which is our present day. He tells Neo that he can chose either to live now or to see what the world is truly like. Neo chooses the latter, and the trip down the rabbit hole begins as does the fight for the salvation of humanity. But the battle must be fought out in The Matrix, not the real world, where computer sentinels are seemingly invincible and where the laws of physics can not only be bent, they can be tossed right out the window. With that kind of freedom, characters can run up the sides of walls, leap incredible distances, dodge bullets, and with the help of Hong Kong stunt specialist Yuen Wo Ping, pull off some of the most impressive kung fu fight sequences ever filmed. Slow-motion film sequences, some shot at the rate of 12,000 frames per second, allow the filmmakers to manipulate the on-screen action much like in the Gap commercials where the dancers are frozen and the camera angle shifts around them. Andrew Mason lends the film the same look he gave Dark City, only this time the good guys wear black and everyone else is either a sentinel or prime fodder for target practice. Another reason this movie is so great is that the stars actually did their own stunts and learned martial arts. There are close-ups during the fight scenes of the actors face, not some stunt double. Each showdown between good and evil, in the form of robots that look like human agents, becomes more thrilling with both the action and the special effects. The acting in this movie is exceptional. Keanu Reeves was perfectly past for his part as Neo. The part did not require an extreme amount of depth, something that Reeves is not known for. But he is able play the part very well. Carrie-Anne Moss also plays in her best role to date. She was able to act her part out very well without having to talk brainless mush, as most women have to do in action flicks today. The two most amazing performances were by Laurence Fishburne and Hugo Weaving. They both had not been known for anything except a few low budget films. Laurence Fishburne plays the part of Morpheus to perfection. He uses his cool demeanor and his commanding presence to give life to a charater the world will not soon forget. Similarly Hugo Weaving also plays a part few people will ever forget. I mean who can forget his famous Mr. Anderson line. He uses his perfect enunciation and dry demeanor effectively to create a menacing villain that audiences will love to hate. Romeo and Juliet It is not so much the central characters of the play, Romeo and Juliet themselves, as the minor characters that are responsible for their tragic end. I agree with this analysis to a high extent, but have also considered the other possible reasons why they died. The most commonly seen reason for Romeos and Juliets downfall would be the feud between the Capulets and the Montagues. However, the over-looked, minor characters play an important role in the downfall of Romeo and Juliet. They were constantly pushing them into secrecy and forcing them to construct a large and complex plan that results in Romeos and Juliets deaths. Tybalt is the trigger that sends Romeo and Juliet off on their downward path. He is always causing trouble and never once in appears in the play without being in the battles. One can find him constantly harassing Romeo and trying to start a fight. When Romeo finally does fight him to get revenge, he ends up killing him and thus gets exiled as the Prince promised earlier in the play. Romeo getting exiled means that when Friar Laurence and Juliet plans their devious scheme, Romeo is not able to hear about it straight away. In fact, he never hears about it, so assumes Juliet is truly dead. Paris seems to keep everything Romeo and Juliet does very hasty as he wishes to marry Juliet in two days. This means that Juliet drinks the potion that night, where she speaks her monologue in her bed. If Paris wasnt going to marry her in two days time, then she would have waited for a reply letter from Romeo. None of the confusion would have arisen. Paris doesnt love Juliet, not as Romeo does, but instead his love is only skin deep. He never really gets to know Juliet. If he did, then she may have liked Paris better than Romeo, which would completely cancel out everything else. The Prince contributes by exiling Romeo near the beginning of the play. Romeo thinks this very unfair (Tis torture and not mercy. Heaven is here, where Juliet lies.). This causes many problems. Romeo cannot hear about The Friars and Juliets plan, so he doesnt know that Juliet was still alive when he killed himself on top of her. The Prince doesnt really play much more of a part than this. The Friar doesnt play a very large part in Romeo and Juliets tragic end. He concocts the potion, but this in itself doesnt contribute to their tragic end but it is fate, in that the letter he wrote never reaches Romeo in Mantua and so he doesnt know of the Friars plan. The Friar is always giving council to Romeo and Juliet and is really only ever helping the two lovers. The only thing wrong he does is to marry Romeo and Juliet just a few days after they meet. This is not good because it is too hasty as he points out when he says, These violent delights have violent ends which comes true within the next two acts. Capulet is the worst offender. He never allows Juliet to marry Romeo, because Romeo is a Montague. Therefore, Romeo and Juliet cannot have a normal relationship and must keep their love for each other well. Capulet also changes his mind very quickly. Near the beginning of the play he answers to Pariss query that Juliet is still too young to woo Juliet and that he should wait two years. Later on in the play, which is only a couple of days later, he tells Paris that he shall wed Juliet in two days time. This causes all sorts of problems. It means that Juliet must seek help from the Friar that introduces many more things that could have gone wrong. The Nurse also does not help. She tells Juliet to perform bigamy by marrying her to both Romeo and Paris. At the beginning of the act, she is on Romeos side and is paying out Paris. The purpose of jobs in mining engineering is to gather natural resources as raw materials for further processed that performed by other companies in order to produce final products or services (Sloan Career Cornerstone Center, 2007). 7. Typical Day There are two general job types for mining engineers: office and on site jobs. For office jobs, the working day is typically from Monday to Friday. However, for on site jobs, they may conduct various working days that differs from one company to another. For example, a company may set rules 2:1 that means 2 month of full time jobs in exploration sites and 1 month for the breaks (Sloan Career Cornerstone Center, 2007). 8. Conclusion Mining engineer is an attractive job since the occupations are often associated with high-wage jobs. However, as a rule, higher jobs mean higher risks. Therefore, we find that the underlying reasons of high-wage jobs for mining engineers are that they face high risk and require special skills.
